I have worked for the Red and Black Society all of last year and also during June. I love to work at Red and Black to show my love of Wesleyan. I was born and raised in Jordan, a country in the Middle East. When I first got to Wesleyan and realized that I would be moving to the United States, I was really worried about cultural differences since I had never been to the States before. Wesleyan, with its welcoming community made the transition so smooth. From day one, I was able to communicate across cultures with students from different backgrounds. We talked about politics, economics, tourism, and many other things. Throughout my time here, I have always found the sort of help I needed. Academically, I had complete freedom to choose any course I was interested in. I received tremendous help from my advisor and the Dean to plan out my academic goal for my first year. Faculty members teach with passion, leaving a very positive impact on their students, and they are always eagerly willing to spend so much time outside the classroom with students who need help, or just curiously asking questions.

This is my third year here at Wesleyan, and I simply cannot fully state how much Wesleyan has helped me shape the very person I am today. I hope that through Red and Black I can give back to the Wesleyan community that has given me so much already. I will always contribute to Wesleyan as much as I can so other future students can benefit from all the advantages I myself have benefited from.
