Mark Your Calendar for Family Weekend, September 27-28, 2014
Wesleyan families are invited to Family Weekend and to experience life at Wesleyan by attending classes and WESeminars, enjoying campus meals, cheering on our teams, and much more.
Since 1995 Wesleyan’s Homecoming and Family Weekend have been combined to create a true community event. This year Homecoming coincides with Fall break, forcing us to shift Family Weekend away from its traditional time. Careful consideration of a variety of factors – including student schedules, religious holidays, on-campus happenings, and the availability of faculty and staff - led to the selection of the September 27-28 dates.
Please know that we do our best to avoid conflicts with major religious holidays. Because many members of the Wesleyan community celebrate the Jewish new year, most Family Weekend programming will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
Rabbi David is planning special programs on Friday, September 26 - such as an Eco-Tashlikh program at 4 p.m. for families who might want to celebrate with their students, in addition to Shabbat services and the Family Weekend Shabbat Dinner.
We hope you'll join us for another memorable weekend at Wesleyan!
Director of Networks, Affinities and Parent Programs
for Wesleyan’s Family Weekend is available through September 12. We encourage everyone to register in advance as it helps us better plan for your time on campus and allows us to place our catering orders more accurately. If you choose not to register in advance or miss the online registration deadline, you may register onsite during the weekend; however, an onsite surcharge may be applied to your registration fee.
Special Wesleyan T-shirts will be available only to those who register online by September 12. Whether you are cheering on the Cardinals vs. Hamilton College on our athletic fields, soaking up knowledge in one of our acclaimed WESeminars, or heading home after a great weekend in Middletown, wear your Red and Black with pride! Purchase your shirt when you register for the weekend. Shirts will be available for pickup when you arrive on campus and check in at the Usdan University Center.
Several Family Weekend events will be webcast live (“WEScast”), and made available on iTunes U or as streaming video after the weekend. If you can’t make it to campus, please join us online! The WEScast listing of events for the weekend will be available in mid-September. For instructions on how to view them during or after Family Weekend, visit the WEScast home page.
WESeminars provide opportunities to revisit the classroom and experience firsthand the academic excellence that is the essence of Wesleyan, with presentations by scholars, pundits, and other experts in their fields. Programs run approximately 60 minutes, followed by audience Q&A. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and because of the state fire code, the University is unable to offer standing room space on the floors or aisles of venues.
