Wesleyan Thinks Big is expanding to New York! 

In this speaker series, which was launched by students on campus in 2012, we seek to collect an ever-expanding set of answers to the question "What keeps you up at night?" Set in an intimate environment, the evening will consist of 3 brief presentations by alumni and faculty about their passions and the big picture ideas that drive them. With time to discuss between each presentation, you will enjoy the kind of intellectual stimulation, reflection, and socializing only available from Wesleyan.

[Ethan Kleinberg]Ethan Kleinberg: "Back to Where We've Never Been: the pasts, presents and futures of 'History'"
Ethan Kleinberg is Professor of History and Letters, Director of the Center for the Humanities, and Executive Editor of the journal History and Theory. He is the author of Generation Existential: Heidegger's Philosophy in France 1927-61 and has published widely on intellectual history, historical theory, and interdisciplinary studies.

[Larisa Ortiz '97]Larisa Ortiz Pu-Folkes ’97: "A Case for Urban Investment: Why Density is the Sustainability Challenge of the 21st Century"
Larisa Ortiz Pu-Folkes '97 is Principal and CEO of Larisa Ortiz Associates. An urban planner by training, Larisa had led commercial revitalization initiatives in the U.S. and abroad, beginning as an intern with the City of Middletown where she cut her teeth working on the early rebirth of Main Street. Most recently her efforts include the formation of the first Business Improvement District in Central America. A Watson Fellow and Fulbright Scholar, Larisa received a Masters in City Planning from MIT and currently teaches at Pratt Institute.
