Philosophy and Film
I came to Wes without any idea of what I wanted to major in. My favorite thing about our school is that this was encouraged, seen as a perfectly respectable outlook. I eventually wound up picking my majors, but have had lots of time to take classes in different departments. I also chose to study Buddhist Philosophy in India during my semester abroad, and got to spend a month traveling throughout India on my program. I am now a Senior, and am writing my thesis on the intersections between the Buddhist concept of non-self and Marx's theories about the alienated worker.
At Wes I am very involved in the student-run peer listening service, 8-to-8, which offers a supportive, confidential outlet for students to work through any emotional problems they are having. I also work at the Financial Aid office. This is my first year as a Manager at Red and Black, but I've been calling since my very first semester!
