A.R. Gurney returns with his 8th World Premiere at The Flea!  Family Furniture is a coming of age tale about a family and one certain summer when everything shifts. Gurney gives us Buffalo, gin and tonics, tennis doubles with the Baldwins, vichyssoise and so much more in this heartfelt tale about parents and children. Directed by Tony award nominee Thomas Kail and starring Carolyn McCormick, Peter Scolari, Andrew Keenan-Bolger, and newcomers Ismenia Mendes and Molly Nordin.

Thomas Kail ’99 was the recipient of the 2008 Lincoln Center Martin E. Segal Awardand nominated for a 2008 Tony Award for his direction of In the Heights. Other theatrical credits include, Broadway: Lombardi; Off-Broadway: In the Heights (Callaway Award, Drama Desk nomination, Outer Critics nomination); New York City Center: The Wiz; Lincoln Center Theater: Broke-ology and When I Come to Die; Williamstown: Broke-ology (world premiere); National tour: In the Heights.Kail is the co-creator and director of the hip-hop improv group, Freestyle Love Supreme, who performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, U.S. Comedy Arts Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival and Melbourne Comedy Festival. He is artistic director and co-founder of Back House Productions. Other directorial credits include, “The Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special” for ABC (2010); the pilot episode of Storymakers for AMC; and co-music director and consulting producer of PBS show The Electric Company.
