Graduate Liberal Studies program
Graduate Liberal Studies at Wesleyan began in 1953 as the Graduate Summer School for Teachers and was the first program in the country to offer the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree. Today the program also offers the Master of Philosophy in Liberal Arts (MPhil). Courses are offered year-round during evenings, weekends, and 5-day immersion schedules. Students may earn a degree in two to four years, or may simply take classes for personal enrichment. B.A. alumni often take advantage of this opportunity to return to campus and study fascinating topics in small classes with their favorite Wesleyan professors. Alumni do not receive a discount on GLS courses, but scholarships are available to students admitted to the degree program. Visit Graduate Liberal Studies for more information.
